flirty business man appearing on laptop

After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, developers stepped up their game towards perfecting face-recognition software.  Uses for this technology are far reaching and most likely it will eventually influence each one of us in some way or other every day.  For now, many hardware manufacturers are incorporating face recognition SW as an option onto new computers & laptops.  As I sat working today with football in the background, I heard a commercial.  The manufacturer (I think it was HP) was advertising that with the recognition software, you could protect your computer from your girlfriend.  The benefit?  She won’t find the pictures that you took on your weekend with the boys.

Really?  Is that what HP(?) thinks is the very best benefit that Americans/Canadians would be attracted to?  The ability to cheat on your girl- or boy-friend or spouse and then hide the evidence on your face recognition protected computer?  Are we that shallow?  Are we that far gone?

I am so tired of commercials and advertisements that make fathers out to be bumbling idiots who can’t find their car keys, women who do little more than sit around gossiping, people who hand out their phone numbers and are ready to jump in bed with someone because they drive a Hyundai, and developers of phenomenal technology who think that the only use that the average joe will have is to cover their infidelities.

Yes, I realize part of the answer is, “Hey Kim, quit watching T.V.!”  but I enjoy watching my football and other sports!  I think we, as a nation, need to stop settling for the ridiculous way that we are portrayed. Soldiers do not put their lives on the line every day so that we can freely cheat on the people we love.  God did not send His Son to die so that we can cut each other to shreds with our words and actions.  Deep down, each of us knows that we were created for more than that.  We must not let the media or anyone else try and convince us otherwise.

So what can we do about it?

~ Peace.
